Keynote Speaker:
Rev. Dr. Martha R. Jacobs,
M.Div, DMin, BCC
The Rev. Dr. Martha Jacobs has been the senior minister at the First Congregational Church (FCC) in Chappaqua, New York, since 2013. Prior to joining FCC, Jacobs dedicated over 20 years as a Board Certified Hospital Chaplain (BCC) with the Association of Professional Chaplains. Alongside her hospital chaplaincy, she specialized in supporting patients, their families, and medical staff with end-of-life matters.
Jacobs is the author of “A Clergy Guide to End-of-Life Issues,” which draws from her dissertation. This guide remains a valuable resource for seminary students, chaplains, local clergy, social workers, and laypeople. She has presented her insights nationally and internationally to healthcare professionals, focusing on open discussions about individuals’ preferences for their body treatment as they approach the end of life. Additionally, Jacobs addresses the spiritual concerns that emerge from these conversations and decisions related to end-of-life issues. She is fervent about encouraging individuals to communicate their healthcare wishes with their families while they are still able to do so.
